Let it be marked in the annals of history that January 21 in the year Two Thousand and Eleven was the day that von Hottie first climbed the silks. Oyez, oyez! During Monday's class, I hung on like hell to the silks without falling, and during this afternoon's class, I did the same. Heather said, "Now put it all [hanging, standing, climbing] together." So I grabbed on, and I just started climbing. I made two full progressions before I yelled, "Heather!" in the same proud/plaintive voice a child first riding a bike yells for their mother. She looked, and I kept going. No, I did not reach the ceiling, but I got halfway. The entire class cheered as I descended and ran a victory lap around the gym. What sights did I see from halfway to the top? Ah, Grasshopper, only those who have tried to climb for four months can say . . . . But I will tell you, it was a bright, bright day.
p.s. For reals, the new side lean I'm learning is a maniac for my lady parts. I knew I would develop new muscles everywhere, but really? Really? There? You can't be serious.
