Awesome evening with Cindy Lai Fitness boot camp followed by Bikram. Boot camp was rough but really fun - lots of squats too. Bikram was wonderful, and I caught myself smiling a few times. Definitely seeing improvement.

Weights before some buddah belly. The yoga room smells horrible! Luckily the instructor had some incense to burn before class started.

Cleanse day 3. Didn't end well. Trainer Manny showed no mercy for my lack of food for the past 2 days, and 10 minutes before our session ended I got really dizzy from squatting with what he probably thought was a decent weight for me. No. I went "eff it" - workouts vs cleanse - I'm going to choose workouts. So I got a salad and soup for lunch and ditched the all-liquid cleanse. I wasn't risking getting dizzy in Bikram again. James even convinced me to eat a brownie. Yum.
And then... Bikram went so lovely. I smiled during most of the class and saw improvement in some of my poses. I was so happy. And Kyoko is an amazing instructor.
I'm most likely never doing a cleanse again (at least not one that lasts more than a day). But it was definitely a good experience, and I don't think I've ever been able to reach that level of vegetable intake in my life. It was great, just not for me.

Today is the last day of The Silk Road - Chapter 4, and I'm now 6 months into the journey. Here is a list of everything I couldn't do 6 months ago.
Climb
Figure 8 footlock
Man on the Moon Roll-up (both sides)
Single Figure 8 Footlocks (one on each foot)
Splits in Figure 8 Footlocks
Split Rollup
Side lean
Tree house
Hip key in the knot
Coffin
Star
T-catch
Drop from a hip key into a t-catch
Aerial dance wraps
Double Stag
Bird's Nest
Here's what I want to accomplish in the next 6 months:
Climb without training wheels (no one holding the silk by the bottom)
Pullover with no assistance (no one helping to get my butt over my head)
Sequence from one move to the next without coming down to the ground first
Hip Key! Own the hip key!
Descents (slow rolling drops)
I'm about to make Chapter 5 of The Silk Road. It will be a mini-challenge to keep me honest throughout the next few weeks. Get ready for Chapter 6 - it will be a force to be reckoned with.

Monday night silks class was the usual practice of my tricks. The "Dry Hands" liquid rosin I've been using was marking up the silks, so I can't use it anymore. Not sure if it's because I was using regular rosin or if the silks were really clean, but it was hard to climb. I still can't jump into the hip key, but soon I will own that fothermucking move.
Heather was helping a new girl climb, and the girl was only strong enough to just hug the silks from a standing position. Heather told her, "It's ok, von Hottie did just that for a long time." "Yeah," I said, "For five months!" Then at the end of class, I held the silk tight for her so she could try to climb. I told her to lift her hands and then try to lift her legs. "I can't," she said."I'm not strong enough." "It's ok, "I said."You'll get there."
As I said it, I felt like I was walking through a revolving door, looking at my old self exit while my present self moved onward. And upward. And upside down. And sideways. All with beautifully pointed toes.

Disappointing day-ish. To start my day off, I thought I had a wonderful 8 hours of sleep. Then I remembered Daylight Savings. Back down to 7. Sigh.
Then, I didn't make it through the entire bikram class (counting it though). Close to an hour in, I got really disoriented and numb, and couldn't catch my breath for a good 15 minutes... eventually one of the teachers at Bikram Yoga Grand Central had to help me outside of the room to rest. Guzzled down two bottles of coconut water and two hours later I was still a little dizzy, but better. Probably the result of the cleanse, or the week of Bikram that I'd just gone through, or even the early (11am is early for me) session. Better now, but hopefully tomorrow's class will be better.
James, Steph and I watched a movie and headed on over to BKB for a little climbing and perhaps some man eye-candy for the BFF. I got through a lot more than I expected considering I hadn't eaten for almost two days (surprising how much energy you can have on a juice cleanse). I improved on a few routes that I had started working on and tried out a few new ones, trying to get over the heights thing. I'm still freaking out when I get higher, but I'm getting higher every few trips, so I'm happy with that.
Being someone who doesn't enjoy deprivation all that much, I treated myself to a salad for dinner tonight. And maybe 3 munchkins. Tomorrow's the official last day for the juice cleanse, but I feel no guilt whatsoever. :)

Busy day yesterday! Boxing boot camp with miss Stephanie, session #5 of bikram + my first day of the Organic Avenue cleanse (hence the 7 healthy meals lol). I felt surprisingly awesome and even ventured into postures I've never done before in bikram. And the evening ended at BKB with James, where I finally sent a route (a v0-, super "easy" to most) so hopefully my fear of heights/falling will somewhat improve as I keep going.
Took the stairs wherever I could too (like lying to myself that the elevator to class was broken. ahem). Many accomplishments in my book, and I was so proud of myself today :)

I had an unexpected 90 minutes free between rehearsal and my dinner plans. I did some serous mental decompressing on the elliptical and in the sauna. Ran into a friend upstairs in Crunch Lafayette and it was nice to chat fora few minutes.

In Friday's silks class, I learned my new favorite pose: the treehouse. From a double footlocks, you basically cross your legs and sit down. It looks really pretty and is really easy. I could do it all day. We worked more on our hip keys. I still can't quite get into it properly. Holding myself up while doing a fan kick is proving to be extremely tricky. My silks girls, aka Team Silks, were lovely as always.
